Objective

Create and support Digital Innovation Hubs

Backed by a consortium of five European and four African partners from eight countries, the project seeks to create and support Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) across selected countries, which will form the foundation of the provision of cutting-edge solutions for Africa’s emerging issues. HUBiquitous builds on the success of two previous H2020 projects: WAZIUP (https://www.waziup.eu/, 2016-2019) and WAZIHUB (https://wazihub.com/, 2019-March 2021).

Objective

Backed by a consortium of five European and four African partners from eight countries, the project seeks to create and support Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) across selected countries, which will form the foundation of the provision of cutting-edge solutions for Africa’s emerging issues.

Methodology

The project includes a Capacity Building program, an Accelerator program, a Talent program and a Community program to provide training, support and a community for DIHs, SMEs/industries, incubators, youth and women communities.

Solutions

The project proposes three highly innovative concepts called Innovation Enablers: Solution Lab, Application Business Box and MeetHub online platform. The purpose of these enablers is to provide technical (e.g. IoT, AI and BigData disruptive technologies) as well as entrepreneurial development skills to DIHs and startups/entrepreneurs.

Cloudport

District is one the first tech hubs and coworking spaces established in Africa in 2011 after the Egyptian revolution. It helped and incubated thousands of freelancers, entrepreneurs, and startups. Today, It manages 4 locations for innovators and entrepreneurs in the heart of Cairo with a total of 8000 m2: District, kmt house, Nwt House, and Rdna. The District has been home to some of the most innovative startups in the region and has been featured in Forbes, Reuters and Al Jazeera for its pioneering and inspiring work environment. This includes startups like Uber in Cairo, Elves, Breadfast, Elmenus, and Bey2olak, Etc

DTBi

The Dar Teknohama Business Incubator (DTBi) is an initiative established by the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology, the private sector and the World Bank through infoDev . It provides various support to start-ups such as mentoring/coaching, shared space, access to market, financial resources and other business services designed to accelerate start-ups success, and create jobs and hence the overall wealth creation.

European Startup Network

European Startup Network was established in September of 2016 and has since grown from a handful of national associations to covering almost all of Europe with 24 organizations in their network, plus countless partners with whom they work to complement internal expertise. ESN helps startups to scale, represents them to European policymakers, and connects them to corporates and investors, among other activities.

igHub

Innovation Growth Hub (IGHUB) is a Technology, Business and Creative Incubation Hub located in Nigeria. Operating from two locations in Nigeria; Aba and Onitsha. IGHUB is committed to grooming new talents in the technology space and supporting startups and SMEs to grow with technology.

Innotec21

IT21 GmbH is a private technical development as well as service provided company, which focuses on innovation, technology and knowledge-based services. The company was founded in 2009 and offers a private service platform for optimal realization of research and development projects between companies and scientific institutions. The work of IT21 carries out, promotes, spreads, transfers and improves research and development activities in the main sectors of knowledge growth and of its applications for the scientific, technological, economic and social development with both industrial and academic partners.

Insomnia

Insomnia is a Digital Innovation Hub located in Spain with more than 30 years of experience working with innovative SMEs and start-ups to foster their innovation capacities. Insomnia is located in Valencia and have their own collaborative spaces (+4000 m2) in the heart of the innovation ecosystem where work is carried out to promote digital transformation in the most important productive sectors (industry, agriculture, agro-food, automotive, tourism, ports and logistics, fintech, legalteh, insurtech, proptech).

WAZIUP e.V is a non-profit international organization registered in Germany. The main objective of WAZIUP e.V is to promote science, research and innovation towards the 17 th goals of the SDG 2030 identified by the United Nation Agenda. WAZIUP e.V main goal is to do research, development and technology transfer of the deep technologies such as IoT, AI, Robotic, Big Data and Fintech, mostly towards the developing countries.
